In the Spotlight

Earlier this month we went to the Walker's Free First Saturday with the girls, where we saw a brass band, ran the hills of Open Field, did our best not to be rained on, and got to see my friend Peter's second group show as Curator. The idea of The Talent Show taps in to the shift in our culture with the rise of reality programming, and showcases artists who play with notions of fame and self-made celebrity. Clio, our famously camera-angry child, wandered in to this project- a room with nothing but an unmoving spotlight- and went ahead and proved the show's thesis.

The message at the end of the book Priscilla, Superstar, (at one time one of Clio's favorites) is that you are a star if you feel like a star. Silly Peter, he didn't even quote it in his interpretation materials.
