Speaking of pumpkin patches, we headed to Apple Tree Farm with the Hewitts in mid-October (though you might think it was August from the heat and humidity.)
There was a hayride,
And a corn maze (which was really quite impressive- it went on and on. Luckily, I'm the only one who was lost by the others, and not a small child.)
And there were apple cider donuts.
There was not, however, any apple picking, and there was not any picnicking with food made or purchased off-premises, which meant some modified tail gating and snacks in the grass in a strip between cars.
The strangest thing about the day was the feeling of being back in New York, where it seems that a million people have the same good idea as you on the day you have it, and there are inexplicable lines and regulations for something that seems it should be all natural. There is some perverse comfort in the idea that it's not just new york.
