Often when we're reading books, Clio dictates to me where, exactly, I should touch, hold, or turn the page. She'll point to the top right corner, say, or reprimand me for flipping a page that she wanted turned. She also gets upset if I cover any of the page (even if nothing is on the spot) with an errant thumb.
Is there a gene for control freakishness? Because I have plenty to pass along.

Our bedtime story reading routine/ritual is filled with Scarlett's growing list of do's and don'ts. She must be in our bed, in the exact middle, under the covers (both sheet and comforter), with out them being winkled or folded in a way that offends her, and there should be no pillow behind her. Once those conditions are met we can read the book of her choosing, but GOD FORBID you forget to read the title page and cite the author's name, and as with Clio the pace of the page tuning is closely monitored and controlled by Scarlett. I think it is partly an attempt to prolong the time before bed, but its also quite possible this impulse to have things "just so" comes from oh...I don't know...me?
